MEER Ontario

MEER Ontario is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of the personal information of its employees, clients and other stakeholder partners. We value the trust of those we deal with, and of the public, and recognize that sustaining this trust requires that we be honest, transparent and accountable in how we treat and communicate information that you have chosen to share with us.

As part of our consultative, assessment and community outreach initiatives, MEER Ontario may gather and use personal information to fulfill its program mandate. Anyone from whom we collect information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use of the information will be with the consent of the subject with the purposes specified.

Defining Personal Information

Personal information is any information that may be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. MEER Ontario is committed to seeking consent before personal information may be used for any purpose; however, under the law there are exceptions. For example, business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers that are published in telephone directories, for example, are not considered personal information that is subject to protection.

Privacy Practices

Personal information gathered by MEER Ontario is kept in confidence and staff are only authorized to access certain personal information based on their need to deal with the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained. Safeguards are in place within MEER Ontario to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered. Measures are also undertaken to ensure that the integrity of the information gathered is maintained and to prevent it from being lost or destroyed pre-maturely.

When relevant, information that may be shared from our website or electronically requires the use of password protocols and encryption software to protect personal and other information we receive when transactions are made online. Organizations with whom we share information to implement our programs have clearly stated privacy policies that meet or exceed our guidelines.

MEER Ontario regularly reviews our privacy practices and updates our policy accordingly.
